Cleaning Up the Kitchen

In May (which I just realized starts in only two days!) I'm going to be embarking on my first month of a tight food budget—$450 for a hungry family of 5—so I decided I'd better clean the kitchen and get it ready for some serious use.

Strangely, I was pretty excited about doing the dishes today, because our dishwasher has not been working for about a month, and I've been handwashing everything for the last few weeks. But a friend from church, who happens to be a plumber, was able to come to the house last night and fix it (thank goodness!) I'm so glad I have my dishwasher again!

Here are some before/after pictures of some of things I accomplished today.

Great job Joy! Your kitchen looks awesome. I'm sure it is a huge relief to have your dishwasher back. I don't know how I'd function without mine.

Organizing the pantry is a great idea. I need to do that tomorrow so that I can have a crystal clear picture of what we already have on hand for starting the month. (Although mine is awfully empty right now, so it won't take long.)

Great clean up Joy! I see some things in your pantry you can use for menus that will help keep you under the $450 goal next month!

Looks like you are ready for this challenge. I'll be following along. Because of you ladies I feel challenged to keep my grocery budget in line this month too.
