Thanks to another homeschool mom I have found some online latin classes for my 12+ age children.
It's no secret that I'm a fan of Latin. I believe learning Latin can be a tremendous asset for any student, helping them develop a deep understand of our English language.
Over the last few years we've used a a few different Latin curriculums, including Latina Christiana, Cambridge Latin, Visual Latin, and Lingua Latina.
This school year Jaden is enrolled in Potter's School for Latin I, where he'll be using the Lingua Latina curriculum, and my plan was for my daughters to continue with Visual Latin and Lingua Latina at home.
But then the other day my friend Jessica from LifeAsMom.com told me about the Latin classes that Dwane Thomas, creator of our beloved Visual Latin curriculum, is teaching this year. The classes are online, one hour a week for sixteen weeks, and the students will be using a combination of Visual Latin and Lingua Latina. Can I just tell you how excited I was?
I almost immediately signed Jerah up for the Intermediate I class, and now I'm just hoping that enough students enroll so that there are enough students to hold the class.
So if you're in the market for Latin classes, you might want to check out the Beginner or Intermediate classes that Dwane will be teaching beginning the last week of August. I know Jerah is really looking forward to them!
Thank you for posting this information. I am a firm believer in learning Latin. Although it is a dead language so to say, I took 4 years in High School. I truly believe that if you start with Latin, its root words etc. has extreme significants to being successful in picking up all other languages easily. Looking forward to this program. THANK YOU again!
