Never Run Out Of Cheese Again!

Have you ever run out of cheese when you needed it? Freezing cheese for pizza or other meals is a must in our family.

We did our first once-a-month grocery trip this last weekend, and I purchased several large bags of shredded cheese. My family loves cheese, so the likelihood that any of this cheese will be left at the end of the month is extremely slim.

But I also have pizza planned for each Friday this month, and I don't want to be caught without enough cheese. So I decided that I'd take some preventative action and package enough cheese for each pizza before offering up the rest of the shredded cheese for public use.

So I pulled out four quart-size freezer bags, marked "Pizza Cheese" on the front, and filled the bags up with a mixture of the cheeses we like on our pizzas. Then I informed the general public (i.e. my cheese-loving family) that they are not to, under any circumstances, open up, look in, or otherwise remove the contents of the aforementioned bags of pizza cheese on penalty of restriction of their pizza consumption on the appointed pizza nights.

I think they got the point.

So, if you want to make sure you never run out of cheese again, plan ahead by freezing your cheese! Package up your individual cheese bags, mark them, and make sure you let the family in on the plan!

Cute idea! We have pizza night on Friday too. I can't tell you the number of times I thought I had enough cheese only to find out it was gone. I'll have to try this. Thanks, Kelly

I used to do this and you reminded me to do it again! I hate having to run to the store when I make pizza dough and have everything ready but the cheese!

I measure out my flour for pizza crust ahead of time and store it in plastic bags–but I never thought to measure out the cheese, too! What a great idea!

I also buy my shredded cheese in bulk and then freeze in ziplock bags. It works great.

Brilliant! I just did my first once a month shopping trip today, too, and planned pizza every Friday night. I'm going to do this too!
