Free Story Starter Ideas for Writers

Fresh and free story starter ideas for fiction, in just about any genre. Great for writers!

Does your child draw a blank when told to write creatively? Is it hard for them to come up with a story starter? Does your child love to write stories? My 13-year-old daughter adores writing, especially since she was introduced to the One Year Adventure Novel curriculum a few years ago.

But really, she comes by her love of writing naturally. My husband has been writing practically his whole life, and has recently published his first full-length novel, an epic fantasy story called The Foundlings—actually the first of a trilogy—that has been in his head since he was a child. (By the way, The Foundlings is a great fit for homeschoolers who love fantasy.)

Story Starter Ideas for Writers

To help other writers get their imaginations started, my husband has started a series on his blog called Story Seeds, which are fresh story ideas he's sharing. If your child is an aspiring fiction writer, these story starter ideas might be fun to share with them.

Joy, love your Bio, would love to homeschool my daughter, but my wife is soooooo against it. She believes my daughter would socially inept if she were not around kids her own age. So, we disagree on this subject, therefore we don't talk much about it. Wish I could change her mind!
