Hmm. What DID we eat today?

Every family has different eating habits or patterns. Listing our meals in this 31 day challenge can be complicated.

Kate and Toni are both posting what their families' have eaten each day, but I've found it a little more difficult to do that. Our usual habit is to make food for ourselves when we're hungry instead of everyone eating at a set time, so it's hard for me to remember what I eat, let alone when everyone else eats. Saturdays are especially unscheduled since the kids usually get up much later and we're either running around in town or working around the house (like we did today).

But I did a survey of everyone in the house and here's what they said they ate today. I can't believe I'm posting this as no one in the house but Jaden ate any fruits or vegetables today. So this is where I say, "Don't try this at home, folks!"

Jeff: Eggs and Bacon for breakfast, leftover "Wet Burritos" for lunch and dinner, and ice cream for dessert.

Joy: Maybe half a cinnamon roll (I tried, I really did!), 16 ounces of milk (I'm trying to cut down), leftover "Wet Burritos" and rice for lunch, a bowl of Kashi cereal for dinner.

Jaden: Cinnamon rolls (he said they actually tasted good!), milk, a banana, yogurt, soy milk, and two hot dogs.

Jerah: Cinnamon rolls and milk, two hot dogs for lunch/dinner, milk, and ice cream.

Joely: A cinnamon roll and milk, peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch, hot dogs for dinner, and ice cream.

As you can see, the kids didn't eat much today, which is pretty normal for Saturdays. Their eating habits vary from day to day, with them eating tons one day and very little the next day.

Some may disagree with the philosophy, but I've always told the kids to eat when they're hungry, not just because it's "time" to eat, and that's definitely what they do. Although it may not look like it based on what they ate today, the kids do like to eat fruits and vegetables—grapes, apples, bananas, green beans, carrots, peas, broccoli (well, only Jaden likes broccoli)—but they just didn't have any today.

And neither did I.

But hopefully our meal summary will look a little more like the food pyramid tomorrow!

Make sure you check out Kate’s and Toni’s blogs and see what they're cooking up!
