A Kitchen Tool We Actually Use Every Day!

How many times have you purchased some new kitchen gadget, only to find it tucked away in the back of your utensil drawer, unused after a year. I have a few kitchen tools like that, but there's one tool that I bought and have used almost every day since I purchased it: bamboo tongs.

My kids and I used to burn our fingers whenever we tried to remove hot toast from the toaster, so when I saw this set of bamboo tongs at an outlet kitchen store while on vacation in Colorado, I snatched them up. And they have been so wonderful! I no longer have to worry about burning our fingers anymore, and the tongs even work great for getting small pieces of bread out of the toaster. As you can tell from the picture, our tongs are well-used, and they definitely work for me!

We made something like this once in girl scouts when I was like 6 or something. We took a wooden spring clothespin and glued large Popsicle sticks to it making it a jointed bamboo tong/springy chopstick sort of thing for just that purpose! Now that I'm typing it out it sounds weird, but it worked!

That's one gadget I don't have, but now know I really need. 🙂

That is a really good idea.

And by the way, my brothers and sisters and me – John, Jeff, Jane, Jody, Jerri.

How handy is that!! And I'm just goofy enough to actually "get" Tara's homemade girl scout tong description. Very cool!
