It usually takes about an hour for them to get through half a lesson. The curriculum can sometimes go a little deep, so my husband words it in a way that is understandable for our kids. My 2nd grader listens in and comments, but she of course doesn't grasp the full meaning of what we talk about. At the same time, she gets the basic message of the discussion which is what is important. Hope that answers your question.
