Simply Zesty Sauce
If you've read my blog for any length of time, you know that I really like making Zesty Cook's recipes. They're all so easy-to-make and delicious.
Tonight I asked Zesty if he had an easy recipe for a sauce for baked chicken. He gave me a tried-and-true recipe of his, I prepared it, and Jerah and I both loved it! (Jerah and I are the only ones at home for dinner tonight).
Jerah asked what the sauce was called, and since Zesty didn't give it a name when he gave me the recipe, we decided to call it "Simply Zesty Sauce."
Here's Zesty's ultra-simple recipe.
Simply Zesty Sauce
Ingredients
- 2/3 c. ketchup
- 2 T. soy sauce
- 2 T. mustard
- 3 T. brown sugar
- salt and pepper to taste (I didn't add any salt or pepper when I made it and it was still delicious)
Directions
- Mix all the ingredients together. Add a tiny bit of water if the sauce is too thick.
- Pour over chicken (I used frozen chicken right out of the freezer), and bake.

If you add a little sesame oil, it would be similar to a teriyaki sauce. I'd sprinkle some toasted sesame seeds on top of the chicken after you're done cooking & serve with some brown rice.
