Menu and Chore List…COMPLETE!

I did it! As promised, I actually sat down and came up with both a chore list and a menu for the rest of the week.

In making up the chore list, I listed all the chores I could think of around the house, divided them up by both frequency and who would be completing the chore. Then I organized the information and made up this chart of chores that I'll be hanging on my refrigerator this week. The kids each have their own list of responsibilities that they'll (hopefully) be checking off, and I have a list as well. This is our first attempt at this kind of organization, so we'll have to see how it works; and I expect I'll be tweaking it as we go to make it work for us.

I've also managed to put together a menu for the upcoming week, although I still have to pull together a couple of recipes: cinnamon rolls and chocolate chip muffins. If you have a great recipe for either of these, I'd love to hear it! If you have a great homemade biscuit recipe, I'd love to hear that as well. I made a batch of biscuits from scratch Friday morning, but both Jeff and I felt a little queasy afterwards; so even though the biscuits were probably not the cause of our distress, we're not so sure we want to try that recipe again.

I do realize that nutritionally, this menu does not meet—or even come close to—"FDA nutritional guidelines," but I'm working with what I have in my pantry right now. Next week's menu should be better in that department.

  2. Joy,

Wow, great job! I love that format you used for the chore chart. It looks so official. I pray you'll find the system that works best for you and your family. I am so impressed with your ambition.

Your menu for the week sounds great. I have never made ribs before but I've always wanted to. When you get a chance, would you please share your method/recipe? That would be a great treat to make for my husband.

By the way, I emailed the cinnamon roll recipe to you. I hope you like them! We LOVE them here, probably a little too much.

Welcome to MPM. I find that posting a plan on Monday holds me accountable throughout the week….why is that? Your menu looks good.

Chocolate chip muffins are a favorite at our house. I'll try to remember to share my recipe with you later today.

  4. Ahh, peanut butter balls – oh wait, that's one of your snacks, not dinner ;)

Welcome to MPM! Thanks for sharing and have a great week!
