The "incentive program" is progressing well, although Jaden wasn't home long enough today to reap his reward of Lego playtime.
Our day was a bit out of the ordinary as Jeff and I had to go into town to attend a meeting this evening (we're on the board of our county's homeschool association). So, the kids finished their work for the day earlier this afternoon and then took Wednesday's work with them to work on during the meeting. They ended up staying by themselves in another classroom for about 2 1/2 hours while the board met in another room close by, and even unsupervised Jaden and Jerah both completed their schoolwork for tomorrow!
This is a very good thing since we're not going to be home tomorrow hardly at all. Wednesday's are usually very short when it comes to school time, but tomorrow's schedule is simply ridiculous! Let me give you a quick glimpse of what our day is going to be like tomorrow.
Around 9:30 tomorrow morning we're heading up to the church so I can set up my booth for the Fall Festival. I'm going to be taking portraits of the costumed kids during the festival, so I have to come up with a backdrop, lighting, etc. And when all I've got to work with is a set of shop lights and a roll of butcher paper, it might take me a while to organize a decent portrait setup!
Then, whether I'm done with my booth or not, around noon we're going to meet with a homeschooling friend to discuss Heaven for Kids, which we do every Wednesday (still haven't decided exactly where we'll meet for this, but we'll figure it out tomorrow!). Then we'll scrounge for lunch and proceed at 1:30 to our homeschool club, which also happens to be meeting at our church this week (our usual meeting place, the local library, is unavailable for three weeks).
But wait, there's more!
After our club meeting, I'll finish up my booth, we'll run home, YOYO for dinner (YOYO: verb, meaning "You're On Your Own" for dinner at our house), and then return to church for the Fall Festival which begins at 6:30. We'll likely get back home by 9 or so, after which we will likely collapse collectively on the sofa, completely exhausted.
So, like I said, it's a good thing the kids have already done Wednesday's work, because there's not going to be any time for them to work on it tomorrow anyway!
