Homeschool T-shirts by Five J's

I posted on Facebook the other day the following 'misleading quote' by Einstein that I thought might work well on a t-shirt. (Click on the image below to see the full quote).

A number of people agreed that it would make a fun t-shirt, so over the weekend I adapted the "Everybody is Stupid" design, came up with 4 other designs, and opened a little t-shirt shop called Homeschoool T-shirts at Printfection.com.

Here are the t-shirt designs I currently have in the shop.

Everybody is Stupid

This misleading quote by Albert Einstein stresses the uniqueness of an individual's talents and abilities. It says in full: "EVERYBODY IS a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is STUPID."

(Note: I realize that in some homes, the term "stupid" is a four-letter word, so this design is obviously not something that would be appropriate for every family.)

Education is Ignorance

This misleading quote by Will Durant reminds us that the more we know, the more we realize we don't know. It reads in full: "EDUCATION IS a progressive discovery of our own IGNORANCE."

Intellectual Growth Should Cease

This is another misleading quote by Albert Einstein who was a strong proponent of lifelong learning, as this quote clearly illustrates: "INTELLECTUAL GROWTH SHOULD commence at birth and CEASE only at death."

Bona Fide Book Nut

As you know, being a homeschooler is usually synonymous with being a book nut. This t-shirt includes my all-time favorite quote by Erasmus: "When I get a little money I buy books; and if any is left I buy food and clothes."

Poor Unsocialized Homeschooler

To the outside world, the stereotypical homeschooled child is assumed to be sheltered and unsocialized. Of course, we all know this is a false assumption, and the vast majority of homeschoolers are very well adjusted and can socialize with people of all ages.

But sometimes we like to poke fun at the stereotype, like this t-shirt does. It's simply a name tag that says "Hello. My name is Socially Unsocialized Homeschooler." It could prove to be quite the conversation starter.

Now I'm the world's worst salesman, and by no means is my main goal to sell you any of these shirts. This little venture is not about making money. In fact, my profit margin on each shirt is a whopping $1, so I'm not planning to retire on the profits any time soon, that's for sure!

I just stumbled on the idea of the 'misleading quotes,' and thought that if I put it on a t-shirt, even my teenage son might like to wear it. And if anyone else likes the shirts and wants to purchase one, then that's just gravy (otherwise known as book money!).

So feel free to browse my Homeschool T-shirts store if you'd like. You'll notice that many of the designs come in a variety of other t-shirt colors than what I showed above. I also have a couple more misleading quotes in mind that I'll add to the store in the next couple weeks.

If you have any other ideas for t-shirt designs, I'd love to hear them!
