Forget those boring, ol' math drills.

I have all three of my kids do math drills over the basic operations several times a week. For Jaden, paper and pencil math drills work fine. Even Jerah enjoys the occasional hard copy drill, but Joely, my 1st grader, quickly gets tired of having to write with a pencil all the time.

To help get Joely a little more excited about math drills (because if she's not in the mood, the drills really don't do her any good), I've had drill with different online math drills before, but most of them are basically online flashcard drills. Nothing wrong with that, but sometimes I'd like a little more variety, and I know my kids would to. I searched for more engaging games which drill the math facts a little more creatively, but I found that most of those were too unimaginative and slow paced, covering too few problems in each game.

sheppardThen I happened upon Sheppard Software's math section, and I struck gold! Their math games are creative, fast-paced (but still only as fast as the child wants to go), and fun, covering plenty of ground each game. Joely has thoroughly enjoyed practicing her math facts with Sheppard Software, and I even catch her occasionally working beyond her assigned time! That definitely works for me!

You might also like to check out Sheppard's geography section. They've created some highly-educational, interactive geography games and quizzes that we have used many times.

That is AWESOME!!! I can't wait to show my kids tomorrow! That might be just the thing for summer math practice that's actually fun. Thanks for sharing!
