Distracted

Since it's spring break for us, I've been blogging like crazy all week. But I think I've run out of steam—I'm a little lot distracted.

My father, who had sextuple bypass surgery last Thanksgiving, has been recovering very well from his surgery. But a couple weeks ago he started to feel a little "off." The nurses at rehab instructed him to call his doctor, which he did, and he was subsequently schedule for a stress test. Apparently he didn't do very well on the stress test because the doctor scheduled him for an angiogram for this morning to see what might be going on with his heart.

But it doesn't stop there. Yesterday Dad started having chest tightness and had to pop several nitro pills to get his BP down and relieve the tightness. The nitro pills did their job, and I'm hoping and praying that the episode is simply due to the stress of anticipating today's angiogram.

As I write this, my dad is is at the hospital awaiting the angiogram. We all pray that whatever is wrong with his heart (if anything) with not require surgery again, especially since it's only been four months since his bypass.

I would covet any prayers on his behalf.

UPDATE: My mom just called from the hospital. While they were waiting for the angio, Dad had more chest tightness and had to take some more nitro. Since he was at the hospital already, they sent him over to the ER where they took an EKG. The doctor there said that his EKG looked fine and that he didn't see any heart damage "except maybe on the back side(!)" Maybe that means that if there is a blockage, they'll be able to stent it since his bypass (if I remember right) was mainly for blockages on the front of the heart. Please continue to pray!
