You know you've been married a long time when you begin to think the same thoughts—at the same time—as your spouse.
I can't even count the number of times in the past year that Jeff and I have been sitting on the couch watching TV together when I make a comment about something on the screen and Jeff immediately says, "I was just thinking the exact same thing." Or Jeff says something and I'll tell him I was thinking the exact same thing.
It happened twice yesterday alone. We were watching Wheel of Fortune (as we have MANY times), and toward the end I noticed that Vanna leans back a lot when she claps, so I commented on it. And Jeff looked at me and said, "I just noticed the same thing."
And later during the news, as the closing of the stock exchange was playing on the screen (something we watch during the news nearly every day), I commented on the large size of the gavel—and Jeff looked at me and said, "That's weird, I was thinking the exact same thing."
So, can I read his mind? Can he read mine? Or have we just been together for so long that we are becoming each other?
Because it's starting to get a little eerie!

On Tuesday, my hubby and I were at a Biblestudy… He isn't normally the leader, but he's filling in for the leader for a while. He said something about layers, and he looked over at me and said, "I know you're thinking about Shrek." I totally was. I thought it was an obvious connection, the part where Donkey and Shrek were talking about people being layered, like onions and parfaits.
But, nope! I was the only one, apparently, who was thinking this. I had a good laugh.
For my hubby and me, I think it's just that we like a lot of the same things, and our minds work in much the same way. Well, not exactly the same way, but you know what I mean.
Plus, we've just been together for so long, we know each other that well. We know each other's quirks and what will likely catch our attention…
When that sort of thing happens, I just think, "We were so made for each other."
