And the demolition begins…

In preparation for the garage conversion, Jeff tore the drywall off one wall in the garage this morning. The kids even got to help by breaking up the sheet rock to dispose of it.

Jeff made an interesting discovery in the process, as you can see in the picture below. For some odd reason the original builder decided to insulate the garage wall—but only between one of the studs!? Still haven't been able to figure out exactly why they would have done it.

Anyway, the next step in the conversion is to put a window in the exposed wall. We'll be hiring someone to do this portion of the project as we have no clue how to go about it (and especially since it involves cutting through the Hardiplank/concrete board siding on the house as well!). I'll be posting more pictures as the conversion progresses.
